Open-item statement

A vendor statement format listing only currently unpaid (open) invoices — one amount column, no running balance or original-vs-outstanding split. The simplest statement layout to reconcile.

An open-item statement lists only the invoices a vendor currently considers unpaid, each with a reference, date, and single amount column — no running balance, no original-vs-outstanding split.

It's the simplest of the statement archetypes to reconcile: match each open line to your AP ledger by reference, amount, and date, and anything left over on either side is the real work — missing on one side, timing, or a genuine mismatch.

Some open-item statements add an original-vs-outstanding aging column (original invoice amount next to what's still outstanding after partial payments) — reconcile on the OUTSTANDING figure, not the original face value, or you'll manufacture false amount-mismatch exceptions.
